Don't always trust your postcode!

Many people check their postcode at www.digitaluk.co.uk to see when the analogue signal is being turned off. This normally indicates the situation based on their local transmitter, but if the transmitter is out of area this information could be misleading and hotels need to check for the actual transmitter their aerial is pointing to. “Hoteliers in Llandudno, who cater mainly for English guests, really need to check if they are receiving their signals from the Winter Hill transmitter, because if so they need to upgrade to digital by November this year.” said Andrew Moss, Northern Area Sales Manager for Airwave.

Digital UK Issues warning on equipment

Digital UK, the industry body which is managing the Digital Switchover, recently warned retailers of the need to thoroughly check the specifications of equipment they are selling to ensure that it complies with those required to work new digital transmission standards. Julian Arnold, Commercial Director at Airwave commented “Some products, typically ‘own label’ models produced for supermarkets and general retailers do not meet the industry guidelines, and could fail to work in the future. This may be a problem for individuals, but for commercial purchasers like hotels, it could spell disaster, particurlary if the TVs are covered by a traditional domestic warranty. It always pays to use a reputable and experienced commercial specialist when sourcing for the hospitality and leisure sector.”

The signs are good for Hotel Van Dyk

Airwave has just supplied and installed Philips hospitality TVs at the newly refurbished Hotel Van Dyk, near Chesterfield. The Philips range perfectly complements the hotel's exciting new decor and sophisticated ambiance, and is further enhanced by a digital signage system in the hotel lobby. The Airsign system, which is exclusively available from Airwave, provides an easy to update, multi- zoned screen layout, informing guests of the hotel's cuisine, conference and wedding services, as well as providing the latest news headlines, traffic information and the local weather outlook.

Oakley Hall connects with its guests

Built in 1795, Oakley Hall has a distinguished past. Formerly owned by the Bramston family, close friends of Jane Austen, it is mentioned fondly in Austen's letters to her sister Cassandra at the turn of the 19th Century. Oakley Hall has now been beautifully restored to its former glory, offering a perfect setting for weddings, conferences, team building and corporate events. Commenting on the restoration and TV installation, Mark Vickery, Director of Oakley Hall, said all 18 luxurious bedrooms and its three bedroom cottage opted for the latest in Samsung Hotel TVs and TeleAdapt MediaHubs to provide guests with the optimum viewing experience. All our guests now have an easy to use connection panel between their personal electronics and the in- room TV, further complementing one of the finest country retreat venues in Hampshire. We are delighted with the results”.

Teleadapt goes HD
